ETS will remove course teams from the Fall 2020 semester at the end of February 2025. We have created guides for instructors on how to restore these archived teams for review as well as how to save content that you want to preserve.
When ¶¶Òõ̽̽ started using Microsoft Teams for remote and hybrid instruction, ETS created a team for every course each semester. We intended to keep course teams for two years, aligning with the retention policy for course spaces in Blackboard LMS. Soon, though, ¶¶Òõ̽̽ was transitioning from Blackboard to Brightspace, and we decided not to remove course teams while so much teaching technology was in flux.
Our transition to Brightspace is complete, and we have a significant backlog of old course teams to clean up to ensure that we are using Microsoft services and cloud storage effectively. To start this effort, we plan to remove the course teams associated with the Fall 2020.
Instructors may want to review the contents of these old teams and possibly export files, including class meeting recordings and other contents, to preserve them. Because we archive course teams after the semester is complete, you’ll first need to restore your teams before you can access their contents.
We’ve developed the following guides to help:
- How to restore archived course-related teams
-
How to save files and contents from the Class Notebook from a Microsoft Team
Removal of subsequent semesters of old course teams will follow until we are positioned to move course teams at the same time that old course spaces are removed from Brightspace.
