Find People to Share a Carpool
Team up with one or more people to share a ride to/from work! Save hundreds of dollars on commuting costs and enjoy some social time simply by connecting with those who live near you and work a similar schedule.
Requirements
- Participants must be full-time permanent faculty or staff members, working the same shift on campus.
- At least one individual participating in the program must own a vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
- All participants must complete a and email it to parking@uvm.edu, or visit our office.
- All participants must complete the parking permit course. A copy of the Certificate of Completion must be attached to your application.
- The carpool leader must initiate a with names of each participant in the carpool.
- to certify that they carpool to work the majority of the days they are on campus.
- By entering into a carpool, participants agree to notify the Transportation and Parking Services office immediately should any changes occur (additions, deletions or replacements).
Rates
Employee Green Carpool Permit
A Green Carpool Permit (0.64% of base salary) will be divided by the number of participants in the carpool (with a maximum of four participants).
Rate for each individual in carpool
- Two participants: 0.32% of base salary
- Three participants: 0.21% of base salary
- Four participants: 0.16% of base salary
Employee White Carpool Permit
A White Carpool Permit (0.48% of base salary) will be divided by the number of participants in the carpool (with a maximum of four participants).
Rate for each individual in carpool
- Two participants: 0.24% of base salary
- Three participants: 0.16% of base salary
- Four participants: 0.12% of base salary
Employee Carpool Designation & Procedures
Only one of the vehicle registered in the program may park on campus at a time. The vehicle must park in the designated zone depicted by the color of the permit during restricted hours as posted or be subject to warnings or citation. Courtesy Notices do not apply to Carpool participants.
Unexpected circumstances arise. This is no different for carpool members. Should the need arise making carpooling difficult or impossible on a particular day, you may park your vehicle with a Daily Virtual Pass (purchased in your parking portal), or pay for a valid ParkMobile space to avoid receiving a ticket. Carpool participants should coordinate on these days to make sure the appropriate permits are purchased.
