About Us

Our Roots Run Deep

In the Department of Agriculture, Landscape, and Environment at ¶¶Òõ̽̽, we are passionate about the green world of agriculture and the environment. For over 60 years, our department has served locally, nationally and internationally, pursuing environmentally friendly methods to grow food, reduce pesticides, keep our water clean and preserve soils.

Students in the ALE Department flourish in our hands on, applied science undergraduate majors and graduate programs. Our goal is to help them apply their education and experiences to propel them into a rewarding career path that will last a lifetime.

Jeffords Hall on the ¶¶Òõ̽̽ campus

We are housed in James M. Jeffords Hall, a LEED-Certified building completed in 2010. Our research labs and undergraduate teaching labs are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The area surrounding Jeffords includes multiple Outdoor Educational Laboratories which provide an arboretum, a stormwater treatment laboratory, urban agriculture plots, and raised beds to serve students through curriculum, service, and research.
