Resources for Faculty Mentors

Research mentorship at ¶¶Òõ̽̽ is an integral part of the student research experience!

Training Future Creators, Scholars, and Innovators

Faculty mentors make the most significant impact on a student's educational experience. As such, we take that relationship and learning experience very seriously and are here to help mentors should they need any assistance or support. Providing mentorship to undergraduate researchers can be a fulfilling and rewarding experience. Positive mentorship can instill growth, curiosity, and confidence in students across their academic achievements and beyond. Positive mentorship can benefit the mentor as well by enhancing research productivity, fostering collaborations, and engaging with hands-on learning and teaching in your field.

We also like to keep our faculty mentors informed about the expectations ¶¶Òõ̽̽ has of them when they sign on as a mentor through a student's grant application and award contract. While some fields or research experiences do not require direct supervision of an undergraduate, we do ask that you provide some oversight of the student throughout their project. The oversight allows students to feel supported and get the most from their research experience. Mentorship is highly individualized; so please foster the kind of working relationship that helps meet the needs of the student and the work that they are doing. (We do require that faculty are available for communication with their mentees during the funding period.)

Please Note: Faculty mentors/sponsors and the students with whom they are working must be up to date on all Risk/Safety trainings and University protocols.
