Ilaria Coero Borga is an Italian student who got her bachelors’ degree in Cognitive Psychology and Psychobiology at the University of Padua with a thesis in comparative psychology, focusing on the inhibitory control of teleost fishes. After that, she got a Master’s degree at the University of Turin, studying the evolution of animal and human behavior. During those years she discovered her passion for bioacoustics and the marine ecosystem, and with her thesis project, she investigated the acoustic presence of beluga whales in Svalbard Islands.
She is currently starting her 3rd year of PhD in biology at ¶¶Òõ̽̽, using the study of sound to investigate the ecology and behavior of marine mammals. Her PhD project focuses on studying the acoustic behavior of two different populations of humpback whales at their breeding areas in Central America.
