We’re kind of still pinching ourselves because it is a huge honor (and a scheduling coup) to bring this extraordinary group of jazz musicians to the Lane Series. Artemis is an all-star quintet featuring pianist and musical director Renee Rosnes, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, tenor saxophonist Nicole Glover, bassist Noriko Ueda, and drummer Allison Miller.

Every one of these women are virtuosos.  Founded in 2017 under the banner of International Women's Day, Artemis's performance at the 2018 Newport Jazz Festival was so electric, Blue Note Records President Don Was immediately signed the group to the legendary label. Since then, they’ve gone on to play at Carnegie Hall, the Monterey Jazz Festival, and SFJAZZ among others. Artemis has been featured in Vanity Fair, on the cover of DownBeat, and on NPR’s Jazz Night in America. Everyone who hears them becomes a fan. The band was named Jazz Group of the Year by the 2023 Downbeat Reader’s Poll and the 2024 Mid-Size Ensemble of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association.
