Administered through the Office of Undergraduate Research, the Humanities Center will provide two awards, one for a humanities-related project and one for an arts-related project. Each fellowship carries a $5,000 award ($3,500 stipend and $1,500 project-related expenses). In addition, the faculty supervisor of each awardee will receive $500 in professional development funds in recognition of their expected supervision of the project over the summer months. The two award categories are:
- Humanities: For projects in fields including and/or encompassing literature, classics, religion, philosophy, history, art history, film and television studies, and cultural studies.
- Creative Arts: For projects including and/or encompassing music, theater, film production, and studio art.
Proposals Will Be Judged on These Criteria
- Intellectual and/or artistic substance
- Promise of results
- Preparation of applicant
- Feasibility
Note: As a condition of the award, all Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows will be expected to present their project at the Student Research Conference in April. Presentations may take the form of a research poster or a scheduled presentation.
