Bain is entering his ninth season in Catamount Country. He has served as ¶¶̉ờ½̀½'s Health Care Administrator since 2019 in addition to covering men’s hockey and running the Athletic Medicine department as Head Athletic Trainer with Kristen O'Connell. Bain was promoted along with O'Connell to Head Athletic Trainer in December of 2014.
Bain was named Senior Associate Athletic Trainer at ¶¶̉ờ½̀½ in September of 2014 working primarily with men's hockey. He came to ¶¶̉ờ½̀½ after serving as the head athletic trainer for the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League. He communicated directly with organization staff regarding injuries and rehabilitation progress. Bain was previously the head athletic trainer for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the New York Islanders’ American Hockey League affiliate, from 2011-13.
Prior to his time in professional hockey, he was the head athletic trainer at Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, N.Y. where he treated patients in an orthopedic clinic setting in conjunction with a physical therapist. Bain was also the head athletic trainer and strength & conditioning coach for the Saginaw Spirit Hockey Club in Michigan for two seasons. He was responsible for the day-to-day operations of both athletic training and strength & conditioning.
Bain is a member of both the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers’ Society. He graduated from Boston University in 2007 and received a masters degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania in 2008.
He lives in Colchester with wife Caitlin, daughters Emmaline and Keely.
