BIO

Iain Cooley (they/them) is a graduate intern at CAPS as an MSW student from Smith College School for Social Work. Iain's clinical experience comes from intimate partner violence and crisis response work in Maine. They were previously placed in Rhode Island working at a community health center on the transgender health team. Iain's therapeutic style is primarily relational with some experience in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. They care deeply about centering the impacts of trauma when providing care to others and they place special emphasis on rest and the way that intentionally resting can be a liberatory and radical act. Iain is especially interested in couples therapy and working to support young adults as they navigate relationship challenges. Their work as a provider is centered in racial justice, supporting  queer folks, healing the impacts of patriarchal masculinity, and redistributing power in equitable ways. When not focused on being a student and a provider, Iain loves to spend time outdoors, climbing, playing D&D, and organizing social events.
