BIO

Jacqueline (Jackie) S. Weinstock, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Human Development and Family Science undergraduate program. She is also an affiliated faculty member in the Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies Program at ̽̽, which offers a minor in Sexuality and Gender Identity Studies.

A lifespan developmental psychologist by training with a focus on adult development and aging, her scholarship and teaching focus on the intersections of individual developmental factors and socio-cultural conditions as they affect life outcomes. Current areas of interest include lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender development, relationships and communities; promoting healthy aging; evaluating social justice programs and trainings; and understanding and promoting college student development, especially critical thinking, connected knowing and community engagement through service-learning.

Awards and Achievements

  • Faculty Leadership Award (2005, 2002), LGBTQA Services of the Diversity and Equity Unit at ̽̽, for excellence in service to the LGBTQA and ̽̽ communities (annual award initiated in 2002; formerly awarded Outstanding Faculty Award (1999-2000)
  • Pride Center (Then R.U.1.2? Queer Community Center) Volunteer of the Year Award (2005)
  • Vermont Campus Compact Engaged Scholar Award Nomination (Spring, 2005)
  • Weinstock Service Award (2001), LGBTQA Services, award was created and named in my honor in 2001 for “Service and Honor to the ̽̽ LGBT Community”
  • Colin Higgins Courage Award Nomination (Spring, 2001), Colin Higgins Foundation, San Francisco, for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer adults who have made strong impact in the lives of LGBTQ youth or the overall LGBTQ movement
