Trainings & Workshops for Professionals and Parents

Consultative Rounds

For teams of children with complex developmental presentations. Consultative Rounds is a provider-oriented model. The Vermont Continence Project (VCP) team meets with providers from your local team to answer specific questions and support the creation of an interdisciplinary plan. At this time, parents are not involved in the consultation meeting, but the VCP team will create a written record of our recommendations which you are encouraged to share with parents

If you are a professional who is interested in consultative rounds to support your student/patient/client, please complete our contact form. Please note: for consultative rounds, we require that representatives from school and the medical home attend, and require that a local team member is the point person to schedule and organize our meetings.

Customized workshops and trainings

We will work with your medical office or organization to create custom trainings or workshops to address common continence concerns. Past workshop topics have included :

  • Better Toilet Training: Getting Started and Overcoming Challenges

  •  How to Use Rewards for Toilet Training.

Many of our trainings are available  .

Team Consultations

The Vermont Continence Project has a long history of providing individual consultation to the teams of children and youth with disabilities. Currently, our team is focused on other activities. Unfortunately, our time is limited, and we are pausing our team consultation model until further notice. We look forward to meeting with your team in the future when we can pivot our attention back in this important direction. Please fill out our contact form if you’d like to be informed when we re-start team consultation.

If you have continence-related questions about your student with a complex disability profile, you may want to organize a training or workshop for your team or group. You can also contact us. if you are seeking resources or research about specific diagnoses or concerns.

Online Resource Library

The Vermont Continence Project maintains a growing library of resources for parents, caregivers, professionals, and for toilet-learners themselves.

These resources include how-to articles, summaries of useful research, event listings, worksheets, and video learning modules for toilet learners and their families.

Feel free to browse the library, or sign up to be notified as new resources become available.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Parent Online Learning Group

What will we do in Group?

Each week, group will have a topic based on the content in our . Before group each week, we ask that parents watch the video content and do any associated “homework". Parents should expect to do up to 45 minutes of video watching and other assignments each week to get the most out of group. Our Zoom meeting is a time to discuss your questions, concerns, and progress.

Can I attend some group sessions and not others?

We ask that parents only join group if they plan to attend all sessions. The content of our group builds from week to week, and parents’ sense of safety and privacy is strongest when they know who else will be present. We understand that things come up in life, but parents who routinely miss sessions may be asked to step out of group.Ìý
