Eden Summerlin, CDCI's 2023 intern, summarizes "Bias Against Autistic People in Traditional Job Interviews", an article from the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders.
In the article, they explain a research study that discovered that in pretend interviews, potential employers are biased against autistic job candidates when they can see and hear them.
The study also found that when those same employers read transcripts of what the autistic candidates said -- and were not able to see or hear them -- they actually preferred almost everything about autistic candidates over neurotypical ones.
