The IPE Project prepares candidates from the College of Education and Social Services and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences to provide holistic services for young children with disabilities. Candidates in both the SLP and EI/ECSE programs will receive tuition though a $1.25 million grant awarded by the Office of Special Education Programs, U.S. Department of Education.

An Interdisciplinary Approach

The IPE Project emphasizes providing collaborative and interdisciplinary services, employing evidence-based practices and data-based decision making, and working with children and families experiencing disability who are culturally and linguistically diverse. Through shared coursework, group assignments, and coordinated clinical opportunities, the IPE Project works to address critical needs and personnel shortages pervasive in both the Speech-Language Pathology and Special Education fields.

Tuition Support

In 2018, the IPE Project was awarded a five-year, $1.25 million grant through the Office of Special Education Programs, Department of Education. These funds provide 39 credits of tuition support to masters-level students enrolled in the Speech-Language Pathology program and 36 credits (full tuition) for students in the Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education program.
