    The Center for Research on Vermont is a student-driven laboratory for understanding the social, environmental, economic and technological trends that impact our state. Everything we do provides ¶¶Òõ̽̽ interns with an opportunity to develop applied skills across a range of disciplines on work that tackles urgent challenges in Vermont.Ìý

Founded in 1974, the Center for Research on Vermont engages ¶¶Òõ̽̽'s vast network of scholars, experts, and community partners to create meaningful learning opportunities for students that also strengthen civic life in our state.

Our work includes:

  • Conducting research on urgent issues like climate change and renewable energy, transportation, economic health, justice and equity, public health, town governance and budgets, demographic changes, and more.
  • Connecting students with internships with , , public health officials, and planners to provide meaningful experiences in civic life.Ìý
  • Producing a regular Research Newsletter that compiles critical news and findings from across the state for our network of supporters.
  • by Vermont authors that examine the past, present and future of our state.Ìý
  • Amplifying the reach of scholarly work from ¶¶Òõ̽̽'s college of Arts & Sciences through reporting, social media, multimedia production and other forms of storytelling.

New Research Award Coming in 2025!

CRVT's mission is to encourage and promote Vermont research while building a robust network of scholars committed to diverse perspectives. To meet this mission, next year, we will launch a new Vermont History Award to fund scholars and practitioners engaged in Vermont-related research and original work. The award will prioritize early and mid-career scholars and practitioners, acknowledging their outstanding achievements to springboard their current project. To celebrate our 50th Year, we will honor scholars undertaking ambitious, challenging projects that advance critical topics in Vermont history. Stay tuned to learn about new opportunies we are creating to advance greater understanding of Vermont history and learn more about our existing opportunities below.
