Program Overview

Students who do not have enough time for a major, a double major, or co-major in Chinese can have a minor in Chinese.  The Chinese minor requires a minimum of 15 credit hours in Chinese language courses. To ensure advanced proficiency, at least nine of these credit hours must be at the 3000-level or higher, including the mandatory course CHIN 3200. Students have the flexibility to substitute three credit hours of language study beyond CHIN 3200 with three credit hours of Chinese literature courses at the 2000-level or above. This minor is designed to deepen students’ understanding of the Chinese language and culture, preparing them for diverse professional and academic opportunities with their chosen major.
