One of the goals when the Grossman School of Business redesigned its MBA program in 2014, was to ensure the integration of sustainability into its curriculum to prepare graduates to solve business programs that intersect with larger social problems.
This modification ensured the concepts of ethics, sustainability and political responsibility are fully integrated throughout all of its Sustainable Innovation MBA classes (SI-MBA), not just tacked on as a single module or elective course. Students explore all subjects through a lens of environmental and social justice impacts.
The accelerated, 12-month program integrates sustainable business practices across disciplines, focusing on the tools needed to manage business today and lead through change tomorrow. SI-MBA graduates jump back into work with the knowledge and skills they need to become change agents in fields as diverse as impact investing, sustainable development, mission-driven marketing, supply chain management, ESG, nonprofit management, and other socially responsible business functions.
Since the redesign, the SI-MBA program has been racking up the accolades including being ranked the No. 1 “Best Green MBA” by Princeton Review for three consecutive years in 2020, 2019 and 2018, and Corporate Knights, a leading sustainability magazine, rated SI-MBA in its “Top 10 Better World MBA” for the same 3 years.
It was especially rewarding to see the SI-MBA program included in this recent prestigious Time magazine feature story about the changing role of business education, and how it is adapting to meet the new challenges of today.
