Dr. Andrey Ukhov, an Associate Professor of Finance in ̽̽’s Grossman School of Business, was honored on April 18th as the inaugural holder of the Pizzagalli Chair of Free Enterprise at a special investiture ceremony in Ifshin Hall’s Keller Family Room.

The ceremony also recognized ̽̽ alumnus Angelo Pizzagalli ’56, whose 2017 donation of $3.0 million through the Pizzagalli Foundation established the endowed chair position.

̽̽ President Tom Sullivan gratefully recognized the generous gift from Mr. Pizzagalli and the Pizzagalli Foundation noting that it marked the 119th endowed faculty position at ̽̽, more than twice the number that were in place at the start of the Move Mountains Campaign in 2011. “Endowed professorships and chairs are incredibly important for recruiting and retaining the best thinkers, the most creative researchers and the most effective teachers,” noted President Sullivan. “We are very appreciative of the donation from Angelo Pizzagalli and the Pizzagalli Foundation that made it possible for the University to attract such extraordinary talent to our faculty.”

Dean Sanjay Sharma echoed President Sullivan’s sentiments stating that the hiring of Dr. Ukhov “adds greatly to the intellectual depth of our school and will help elevate our global reputation.” Dean Sharma applauded the Pizzagalli Foundation’s contribution noting that Angelo Pizzagalli made his gift in time to qualify for the Grossman Challenge which released a matching donation of $3.0 million for the Grossman School from the Grossman Family Foundation.
