In late March, Ifshin Hall was abuzz again for the 12th annual Careers in Finance event hosted by Grossman School of Business. This annual alumni-led event features a panelists from all facets of the financial world – from CEOs to presidents, partners to managers, lawyers to advisors – and is an opportunity for ̽̽ students to hear from some of the best professionals in the finance industry and make connections that could help job and internship searches.

̽̽ alumnus and Grossman Board of Advisors Member James Flicker ’87, CFA Managing Director, TAP Advisors organizes the event each year. For this year’s event he gathered six fellow ̽̽ alums to share their decades of financial experience.

Student/Professional Networking

The morning kicked off with an opportunity for students to mingle with alumni over a light breakfast. As the plates cleared, the Ifshin Hall Keller Room was partitioned into two separate alumni-led lectures – “An Introduction to Private Capital Markets” presented by Angus Whelchel ’95 and “The History of Instinet and the Dawn of Electronic Trading Solutions” presented by Jacob Asbury ’95.

All-Star Alumni-Led Panel

Afterwards, the full panel of alums in finance reunited and detailed their experience navigating the complex world of finance, including:

  • Richard Rosenberg '96, Managing Director | Mariner Wealth Advisors
  • Wes Brown '18, Associate | MiddleGround
