Every January the ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Grossman School of Business hosts more than 20 college student teams and family business leaders from around the world for a week of problem solving, presenting, networking and much more at the Schlesinger Global-Family Enterprise Case Competition, or SG-FECC. At this four-day case competition, teams of up to four students challenge themselves to develop and present practical solutions to dilemmas faced by family enterprises. The event is a critical element of the Grossman School’s Family Business Institute that supports the learning and networking needs of students, educators, family business advisors, and leaders.

A Student-Run Event

The Leadership Team that organizes the event is composed of committed and collaborative students, supported by Grossman School faculty and professionals, and they’re all hard at work preparing for the event—from communications and coordination, to recruiting Student Ambassadors to act as hosts for visiting teams for the next competition just befor and after the event takes place January 8 – 11, 2025.

The important role of Student Ambassadors

SG-FECC offers a unique opportunity for ¶¶Òõ̽̽ students to get involved in case competitions with the role of team Ambassador. Student Ambassadors each host one team during their visit to Burlington, VT for SG-FECC, becoming the face of ¶¶Òõ̽̽ and the Grossman School of Business for the week. As the first point of contact for competing teams, Student Ambassadors welcome their team to SG-FECC, provide hospitality, and ensure their team navigates successfully throughout the competition.

Student Ambassadors ultimately ensure their teams are well taken care of—everything from helping to keep their schedule and providing tours of ¶¶Òõ̽̽ highlighting what's great about our lovely campus, to offering recommendations for experiencing Burlington, Vermont during their visit.
