About Careers in Finance

This alum-led panel and networking session opens a window into finance careers, hosted by the Grossman School of Business (GSB) features panelists from all facets of the financial world, from CEOs to presidents, partners to managers, and lawyers to advisors. 

Hosted by University of Vermont (¶¶Òõ̽̽) alumnus and Grossman Board of Advisors Member James Flicker '87, CFA Managing Director, TAP Advisors, and Grossman School of Business board member, this is an opportunity for ¶¶Òõ̽̽ students to hear from some of the best professionals in the finance industry and make connections that could help job and internship searches. GSB students are strongly encouraged to attend and earn PEAKs points.

Jill Greer

Jill Greer

Jill Greer has 30 years of experience in non-profit finance. She was a Vice President in Municipal Finance at Goldman, Sachs & Co and subsequently founded the Jewish Federations of North America’s National Tax-exempt Bond Program. Jill has served as a founding Board Member and Treasurer for several educational organizations including, Code Platoon, a coding bootcamp for veterans, Beacon Academy, a Montessori high school, and Gan Montessori, an early childhood program. Jill currently serves as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee for Connections for the Homeless, a social services agency. 

She is also the proud parent of ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Grossman grad Gabby Greer ’22. Jill received her MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University and a BS from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

David Gringeri '21

David Gringeri

David Gringeri is an Associate in the Investment Banking Division at Morgan Stanley. He currently focuses on the Transportation, Logistics, and Infrastructure sectors. David joined Morgan Stanley full-time in 2021 as an Analyst in the firm’s 36-month rotational program. His first 18-months were in Equity Research focused on Aerospace, Defense and Gov’t Services and his second 18-months were in Investment Banking focused on Transportation, Logistics, and Infrastructure. In the summer of 2020, he completed an internship with Morgan Stanley’s Oilfield Services and Equipment Equity Research Team. 

Raised in Vermont, David graduated University of Vermont in 2021 with a B.S. in Business Administration and a minor in Economics. While a student at ¶¶Òõ̽̽ and GSB, he participated in Student Government Association, Grossman Student Advisory Committee, GSB Wall Street Seminar course, and served a term as a Student Trustee on ¶¶Òõ̽̽’s Board of Trustees. 

Susan Leonard '88

Susan Leonard

Sue currently serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer at EastRise Credit Union in Williston, Vermont. EastRise is the largest credit union in Vermont with assets of $3B and serving over 160,000 members. Sue’s areas of responsibility include Finance & Accounting, Deposit & Cardholder Operations, and Risk Management. She has been employed at the Credit Union for over 30 years, serving the first ten as the company’s Controller. Prior to her Credit Union career, Sue audited many Vermont companies as a Staff Accountant for KPMG Peat Marwick in Burlington.

Sue graduated from ¶¶Òõ̽̽ with a BS in Business Administration (Accounting concentration) and went on to obtain her CPA license while working at KPMG. During her career at the Credit Union, she has earned her master’s degree in Business Administration from ¶¶Òõ̽̽. 

Sue is a graduate of the Leadership Champlain program and has previously served on the boards of the Lake Champlain Chamber, United Way of Northwest Vermont, and the Charlotte Children’s Center, as well as the Finance committee of Women Helping Battered Women. 

Sue lives in Charlotte, VT with her husband and dog. She has two young adult sons who are gainfully employed. In her free time, she enjoys staying active and riding her semi-retired quarter horse. 

Brendan MacKenzie '04

Brendan MacKenzie

As a consultant relations manager within Wellington Management’s Global Relationship Group, Brendan is part of a dedicated team responsible for developing and enhancing the firm’s working relationships with investment consulting firms throughout the US. He is also responsible for establishing relationships with corporate defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plan sponsors, assisting them with long-term investment strategy, evaluating portfolio risks and performance, and ensuring compliance with policy guidelines.

Prior to joining the firm in 2017, Brendan worked for Eaton Vance’s largest affiliate, Parametric Portfolio Associates, as an associate director on their Institutional Business Development Team (2016 – 2017). Before that, he held multiple positions at Eaton Vance with his last role being a vice president within their Defined Contribution & Sub-Advisory Group (2005 – 2015).

Brendan earned his MBA from the Carroll Graduate School of Management at Boston College (2010) and his BS in business administration from ¶¶Òõ̽̽ (2004). Additionally, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Society Boston.

Daniel Morgan '95

Daniel R. Morgan, Senior Managing Director, Portfolio Solutions Group, Head of Transition Management and Trading, Americas, State Street Global Markets.

Dan Morgan is a Senior Managing Director of State Street and is responsible for leading our Americas Transition Management and Agency Trading businesses within Portfolio Solutions. Dan oversees both product and distribution within these products inclusive of Transition Management trading for equities, fixed income, FX and derivatives in addition to the Institutional Sales and Trading business within Portfolio Solutions. Mr. Morgan is a board member of State Street’s broker dealer, SSGM, LLC and is also the chair of SSGM, LLC’s best execution committee.

Mr. Morgan joined State Street’s Global Markets division in 2000 and has 19 years of experience in the securities industry. Prior to his current role, he held positions in portfolio and equity derivatives trading, portfolio risk management and business development within State Street’s Portfolio Solutions business. Prior to joining the Portfolio Solutions group, he held a senior sales trading role for Bond Connect, an electronic trading platform designed for the fixed income marketplace.

Mr. Morgan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from ¶¶Òõ̽̽. He holds the FINRA Series 3, 7, 24, 57 and 63 licenses.

Anthony Rokovich '89

Anthony Rokovich

Anthony Rokovich is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he specializes in advising clients in the real estate, lodging and leisure sector. He has over 20 years of investment banking experience working on strategic and financing transactions.

Prior to Moelis & Company, Anthony was a Managing Director in the Real Estate, Lodging & Leisure Group at UBS. He previously worked in Real Estate Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch. Anthony holds a B.A. from ¶¶Òõ̽̽ and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

Richard Rosenberg

Rich focuses on client service, financial planning and tax consulting services. A veteran tax specialist and personal financial planner, he combines a broad understanding of U.S. tax laws, including income and estate tax strategies, with knowledge of the financial markets. Previously, he was a manager in the Private Client Service division of Arthur Andersen. His primary role included the management of high-net-worth clients within the personal financial planning practice, working closely with wealthy individuals to help them mitigate income taxes and enhance their wealth. He has an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from ¶¶Òõ̽̽. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of CPAs and the Financial Planning Association.

Wes Brown is an Associate on the Transaction team at MiddleGround Capital, a private equity firm that invests in B2B companies in the industrial and specialty distribution sectors in the lower middle market in North American & Europe. Before MiddleGround Wes was most recently an analyst and associate in BMO Capital Markets’ healthcare coverage investment banking group, where he worked on M&A and capital markets transactions for life sciences and healthcare services businesses. Wes holds a B.A. in economics from ¶¶Òõ̽̽.

Jacob Asbury has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Jacob started their career as a Senior Accountant at Gallagher, Flynn & Company, LLP in 1995 and worked there until 2001. Jacob then joined Lampe Berger USA, Inc. as a Controller and played a vital role in building the accounting department from scratch. After three years, in 2005, they moved to Instinet Incorporated, where they initially worked in the external reporting group and eventually became the Chief Financial Officer. At Instinet, they were responsible for overseeing the finance, treasury, and financial systems functions of the global agency brokerage. In 2020, Jacob briefly worked as a Free Agent before joining Performance Flight as their Chief Financial Officer. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Financial Officer at Clear Street Group, Inc., a position they assumed in September 2021. Throughout their career, Jacob has demonstrated strong financial acumen, leadership, and the ability to develop key performance indicators for various businesses.

Jacob Asbury completed their undergraduate education from 1991 to 1995, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting from ¶¶Òõ̽̽. In July 1997, they obtained the certification of Certified Public Accountant from the State of Vermont.

Angus Whelchel is a Managing Director and Head of Private Capital Markets at Moelis & Company, focusing on the Firm’s public and private market origination and distribution capabilities. Angus has more than 20 years of investment banking experience working with clients across all industries and has helped raise over $200bn of private capital globally across debt and equity. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Angus served as Global Head of Private Capital Markets in New York and Head of Private Capital Markets for EMEA in London at Barclays. Earlier in his career, Angus held positions in the Private Placement market at Lehman Brothers and GE Capital.
Angus holds a B.A. in Finance from ¶¶Òõ̽̽ and an M.B.A from the College of William and Mary. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Jonas Levine (GSB ’22) joined Crosstree as an Investment Banking Analyst in June of 2022, shortly after graduating ¶¶Òõ̽̽. At Crosstree, Jonas is responsible for buy-side and sell-side M&A transaction execution within the Healthcare Industry. Prior to joining Crosstree, Jonas was an Asset Management Intern at Klocke Capital Group, where he conducted research to support the leading portfolio manager’s trade strategies.

Steven graduated ¶¶Òõ̽̽ in 1996. He was an accounting major and the senior class President. Upon graduation, Steven went to work at Arthur Andersen where he earned his CPA. Then in 1999, Steven made the transition to Wall Street changing career paths and going to work as a financial consultant at Salomon Smith Barney. For the following 23 years, Steven has had a successful career at Bear Stearns, SAC Capital, UBS and has now worked the previous 3 years at Morgan Stanley. Steven currently oversees sourcing for a hedge fund that exists within Morgan Stanley’s investment management division. He lives in Boston, but works in NYC five days a week.
