Who We Are:

Young Investigators

We have already identified young investigators who will be directly involved in specific parts of the research program and we plan to recruit at least 10 additional post-docs or graduate students for the duration of the program. The Network will contribute to young investigator training and career development in the following ways:

  • individualized training in the various research projects by the PI
  • cross-field training with another PI in the Network on the many joint scientific projects, to learn new techniques or perform specific experiments
  • Bidirectional training (basic science to clinical science, clinical to basic science), in which clinical fellows spend time in mouse/basic science labs and research fellows spend time in the more clinical labs
  • Active participation in Network meetings, including presentation of results and potential difficulties, and discussion of the advancement of their development program
  • Trainee courses in the clinical aspects of SVD, techniques, and grantsmanship, appended to these meetings.

    • Educational performance indicators, such as the number and quality of publications from young investigators, will also be surveyed. Key training aspects of Young Investigators to ensure the long-term future of the Network.
