With 7 fraternity chapters and 6 sorority chapters on campus, ¶¶Òõ̽̽ FSL firmly believes becoming actively involved in a Greek-lettered organization can be one of the most rewarding collegiate experiences, and one that will last a lifetime.

The Panhellenic Council is the umbrella organization for the six sororities at ¶¶Òõ̽̽, which exists to promote interfraternal relations among sororities on campus, as well as relations with all other Greek councils. Through programming efforts, the Panhellenic Council promotes superior scholarship, service, leadership development, and friendship.

Sorority members can serve the Panhellenic Council by being elected through their chapters as Panhellenic Delegates or apply to serve on the council’s executive board.

The Interfraternity Council is the umbrella organization that provides guidelines and support to its member organizations, the fraternities of ¶¶Òõ̽̽. The Interfraternity Council’s purpose is to advance fraternity on campus and provide interfraternal leadership to the entire community. Each organization is represented at IFC council meetings to discuss and vote on matters concerning member organizations and the fraternity community.

Fraternity members can serve the Interfraternity Council by being appointed through their chapters as IFC Delegates or apply to serve on the council’s executive board.

Please note: Some organizations on campus may not be in good standing with the University due to safety and misconduct concerns. Other groups may present themselves as university-recognized, but may not have a formal affiliation with ¶¶Òõ̽̽. Details of the respective status and conduct history of these groups are found on our Student Organization Misconduct page. Students are encouraged to review the disciplinary history of student organizations they wish to join and make informed decisions. Students are strongly discouraged from joining or participating in unrecognized student groups. 

Recognizing Academic Achievement

Scholarship remains an important part of life for all University of Vermont students and especially for Greek-letter organizations. The Fraternity and Sorority community's goal is to assist in fostering its members to be better students and leaders. ¶¶Òõ̽̽ requires all students to have at least a 2.5 GPA in order to participate in Fraternity or Sorority recruitment, and  many individual chapters have higher GPA standards.

Students who excel academically while maintaining membership in a fraternity or sorority can apply to join our the Order of Omega.

Purpose

To RECOGNIZE those fraternity members who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities, to ENCOURAGE them to continue along this line, and to INSPIRE others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment;

To UNITE outstanding fraternity members to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate fraternity affairs;

To BRING TOGETHER members of the faculty, alumni, and student members of the institution's fraternities and sororities on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness;

To help CREATE an atmosphere where ideas and issues can be discussed openly across Greek lines and to help work out solutions.
