Dear students,

Somehow, the days seem to pass more quickly as we move into the second half of the semester. Mid-terms and spring break are approaching, and this is a good time to reflect on how your semester is unfolding.

If you are experiencing the mid-winter blues or are craving more connection, you are not alone. Look for things to do on , check out a GSS or SGA club, reach out to your classmates (propose a study group!), or ask someone to join you for dinner, a game, or even a run to Target. Friendships are formed through shared experiences—so make a plan, invite others to join you, and stick with it because it may take a few tries.

Looking ahead, our medical students are preparing for their Match Day on March 15, when they learn where they are headed for their residencies—good luck to all! I hope everyone will participate in the Solar Eclipse Day programming we have planned for April 8. We will be distributing free eclipse glasses to you the week before the big day. Please also attend the Student Research Conference on April 18 to celebrate the work of your classmates and to learn how you can participate in research experiences. It’s not too early to think about how you will spend your summer. Reach out to the Career Center, your Dean’s Office, your advisor, or the Fellowships, Opportunities, and Undergraduate Research Office to find jobs, internships, travel, and research opportunities. On Sunday, April 28, the Student Government Association (SGA) is coordinating “Together Vermont,” a day of service connecting students with the Burlington community. Look for more information from SGA soon on opportunities for service in all city wards.

I want to give a big shout out to our ̽̽ Women’s Swimming and Diving Team who won their very first America East title. And best of luck to all our winter sports teams who will be participating in post-season competition.

I know that many of you will be traveling over spring break. Whether you are volunteering, on a travel study trip, lying on a beach, spending time with friends and family, or tucked away in the library working on a project, please make health, safety, and good judgement part of your plans.

After break, I look forward to seeing you back on campus rested, rejuvenated, and ready to finish the semester strong.

Be well, Catamounts!
