Dear students,

We are very excited to welcome you to campus on this beautiful Vermont weekend! I hope you are connecting with classmates and making new friends as we prepare to begin the semester on Monday.

As we start the academic year, there have been incidents in downtown Burlington that are cause for concern and caution. We have many resources on campus dedicated to the safety of students and community members. There is useful information and advice available on the Division of Safety and Compliance website, and I strongly encourage you to download and set up the CatSafe app if you have not already. It is always wise to exercise caution when you are out in the evenings, travel in groups, and move away from any situation that makes you uncomfortable. You can always call 911 in an emergency or reach ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Police Services at (802) 656-3473 with concerns. Above all, Catamounts look out for one another!

We live in a wonderful community, and the fun and excitement of the new year together is just beginning. President Garimella and I look forward to officially welcoming our newest students to our community tomorrow evening at our annual Convocation and Twilight Induction Ceremony, and I encourage all of you to join us at the Andrew Harris Commons at 6:30pm for the celebration.

Warmly,

Patty Prelock
Provost and Senior Vice President
