Dear faculty,
As the semester draws to a close, I want to thank you for your continued care and support of our students as well as the learning opportunities you have provided for them. I have been reflecting on the campus demonstrations we are witnessing across the country and on our own campus, appreciating the opportunities our students, faculty, and staff have for the free expression of different perspectives. I have learned through my engagement with students of the diversity of perspectives, emotions, and knowledge they hold. It is not always easy for them or for any of us to be open to different perspectives and to consider how best to have conversations that support deep learning about a complex topic.
I’m grateful for the commitment you have to educating our students, challenging them to learn in different ways, and guiding them on a path to their future success. Thank you for making a difference in their lives.
For your information, the message I am sending to students is included below.
I hope to see you at Commencement and wish you a restful and productive summer!
Warmly,
Patty

Dear students,
As another semester ends, and for some of you this will be your last semester at ¶¶Òõ̽̽, I want to wish you a successful finals week and encourage you to take care of yourself during these stressful times. It has been a privilege to get to know so many of you, to learn from you, and to witness your growth.
I know this has been a difficult year to navigate amid the vast conflict, sadness, and loss for so many at home and abroad. Your faculty and staff are here to give you the support you may need. I encourage you to continue to learn about yourself, explore the possibilities for learning new things, and challenge yourself to find just the right path for you.
For our returning students, I wish you a restful summer filled with time to connect with family and friends. Amid the fun, take time to continue crafting your Catamount Experience. Use summer recess to plan for the academic and co-curricular opportunities that will create a meaningful university experience.
For our graduates, I wish you a life full of welcome surprises and the fulfillment of doing something that drives your passion. I look forward to seeing you at Commencement!
Be well Catamounts,
Provost Patty Prelock
