Message from the Chief of Police
Message from the Chief of Police
Thank you for your interest in joining ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Police Department. Allow me to give you a little information about the work that we do and the community we serve.
¶¶Òõ̽̽ Police was founded in 1992 as the only higher education-based sworn police agency in the State of Vermont. Since then, our department has changed and grown along with our population. We pride ourselves on being part of ¶¶Òõ̽̽, providing a safe and secure atmosphere for the student, faculty, and staff members who comprise our community.
We are accredited by CALEA, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. Accreditation is a method to ensure that ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Police Services is in compliance with nationwide standards covering all aspects of law enforcement policies, procedures, practices, and operations. Our affiliation with CALEA makes a statement to other law enforcement agencies, professions, and the university community that our department meets the highest standards of professionalism.
In addition to our work on campus, we also serve the greater community by providing mutual aid to neighboring police departments. We have a highly trained staff consisting of instructors for competencies such as Defensive Tactics, TASER, Pepperball, Firearms, Active Shooter, Domestic Violence Response, First Aid/CPR, as well as Fair and Impartial Policing. These instructors work with the Vermont Police Academy to train police recruits for every agency in the state. Several of our officers also have specialized training such as Bike Patrol, Crash Reconstruction, Hostage Negotiator, and more.
For more information about our department, please call or email us via the information in the sidebar. We look forward to hearing from you!
Respectfully,
Tim Bilodeau
Chief of Police
