New Student Insight Sessions

Join us throughout the summer for New Student Insight Sessions, which will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the diverse resources available at ¶¶Òõ̽̽. These sessions are designed to support you and ensure a seamless transition into university life.

Can't make one of the session dates listed below? No worries, all sessions will be recorded, captioned, and later posted to YouTube. Links to these recorded sessions will be posted to this New Student Insight Sessions webpage.

All sessions are held at Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

MAY

Beginning May 15, 2024 weekly emails will be sent to your ¶¶Òõ̽̽ email inbox, ensuring you are reminded of upcoming events and kept up-to-date with any important tasks, dates, or Fall related information.

Wednesday, May 15 - New Student Checklist: Your one stop to all the information you need to complete tasks throughout the summer, your New Student Checklist will be updated throughout the summer with additional items to complete before your arrival to campus in August.

May 28 through May 30, 2024 - Academic Overview Sessions:ÌýRegister for your Academic Overview Session via the item on your New Student Checklist. The link to attend the virtual session will be sent to your ¶¶Òõ̽̽ email. All Academic Overview Sessions are scheduled from May 28 - June 6, depending on the academic college. In your Academic Overview Session, you will connect with staff from your college and learn more about the services and opportunities available to you.

May 30 through June 9, 2024 - Schedule your Course Registration Appointment: Details about signing up for your course registration advising appointment - which will occur between June 10 - July 5 will come to your ¶¶Òõ̽̽ email. Transfer students - your academic unit will be in touch about scheduling fall courses.

JUNE

Throughout the month of June, you will explore a wealth of resources and connect with various campus partners, all in preparation for your exciting journey to ¶¶Òõ̽̽! Most importantly, this month you'll be required to have a virtual 1:1 and/or small-group course registration advising appointment where you will finalize your fall courses.

Transfer students - your academic unit will be in touch about scheduling fall courses.

June 3 through June 6, 2024 - Academic Overview Sessions: Register for your Academic Overview Session via the item on your New Student Checklist. The link to attend the virtual session will be sent to your ¶¶Òõ̽̽ email. All Academic Overview Sessions are scheduled from May 28 - June 6, depending on the academic college. In your Academic Overview Session, you will connect with staff from your college and learn more about the services and opportunities available to you.

Academic Overview Session Recordings: Review your college's session prior to your course registration advising appointment. This will help you feel even more prepared for course registration.

June 10 through July 5, 2024 - Course Registration: Attend your Course Registration Advising Appointment.

Monday, June 17, 2024 at 7pm EDT - Patrick Leahy Honors College Informational Session:ÌýMeet the staff from the Patrick Leahy Honors College (PLHC), who will support your experience as an honors student at ¶¶Òõ̽̽. ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Orientation will email the Microsoft Teams link to all students accepted to PLHC for the fall.

Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 7pm EDT - Financial Foundations - Building a Solid Foundation with ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Student Financial Services for your ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Financial Journey:
Gain insight on how to successfully navigate the financial aspects of your ¶¶Òõ̽̽ education. Join our knowledgeable representatives from the Student Financial Services office as they demystify billing and financial aid processes for incoming first-year and transfer students, along with families/supporters. This session is designed to equip you with a comprehensive understanding of the billing and financial aid processes at ¶¶Òõ̽̽ before the mid-July billing release date.

Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 7pm EDT - Family Guide to College Transition:ÌýCo-presented by Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Erica Caloiero, and Assistant Dean of Students, Joe Russell, this session will provide students and their families/supporters an introduction to the college transition and provide ¶¶Òõ̽̽ resources for healthy, engaged, and successful Catamounts.

Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 7pm EDT - Dining 101: Explore, Navigate, and Connect:Ìý¶¶Òõ̽̽ Dining is dedicated to offering food options that nourish students and provide spaces for them to feel healthy, successful, and engaged. Join us as we guide you through our dining halls, meal plans, dietary accommodations, and sustainability initiatives. We will offer valuable dining tips to enhance your university experience.

JULY

Throughout the month of July, join us for engaging sessions as we prepare for your arrival to campus in August!

Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 7pm EDT - Your Campus, Your Home: Welcome to Residential Life at ¶¶Òõ̽̽: Welcome to Residential Life at ¶¶Òõ̽̽! Experience a virtual tour of a residence hall, meet our staff, and learn more about the on-campus experience.

Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 7pm EDT - ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Billing FAQs with Student Financial Services:ÌýNew first-year and transfer students and their families/supporters are encouraged to attend this session as fall semester bills roll out to registered students in mid-July, and we know that you may have a few questions. Don’t hesitate to join us for an informative session where we address the top billing and financial aid questions that both students and parents have. Let’s ensure your financial confidence at ¶¶Òõ̽̽!

Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 7pm EDT - Introduction to Student Accessibility Services: Join us for an informative session in which you will meet staff from the Office of Student Accessibility Services. During this session, you will learn about the comprehensive support offered, the resources available, and the accommodations process.

Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 7pm EDT -Your Campus, Your Home: Moving In & Making Campus Home:ÌýEverything you need to know about move-in! Learn about what you should bring to campus, what not to bring, and how to successfully manage the transition to college life.

AUGUST

Let’s get ready. This month, we want you to feel prepared and excited to join us at the end of the month for your on-campus New Student Orientation!

Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 7pm EDT - Sustainable Living at ¶¶Òõ̽̽: ¶¶Òõ̽̽ takes sustainability seriously and has recently published a Comprehensive Sustainability Plan that includes goals such as carbon neutrality by 2030! Join us to learn from your peers about the sustainability efforts underway at ¶¶Òõ̽̽ and what you can be thinking about as you plan for your life here on campus. We will be covering topics including waste, transportation, and food. Bring your questions; this session will conclude with a Q&A.

Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 7pm EDT - Family Webinar "Tools and Tips":ÌýThis session is designed specifically for our family members and supporters. We will share information regarding campus safety, health and wellbeing support services, and helpful advice to prepare your Catamount for their transition to college life and residential living. The session will conclude with a Q&A.

Wednesday, ​August 14, 2024 at 7pm EDT - Your Campus, Your Home: Living in Community:ÌýWhat does it mean to live in a community? Meet the dedicated teams in your community who will help you stay connected and supported in your new home. Plus, join a breakout session where you’ll meet your Learning Community & Residence Education staff, Resident Assistant (RA), and the other residents living in your area!

Monday, August 19, 2024 at 7:30pm EDT - Wait, One More Question!: It's Orientation week, and we know there may be some last minute questions you need answered. JoinÌý¶¶Òõ̽̽ senior administrators for a question and answer session to help you feel more prepared as your student transitions to ¶¶Òõ̽̽ later this week. This session is exclusively for families/supporters of incoming new students.

Monday, August 19, 2024 at 7:30pm EDT - GRWM ft. ¶¶Òõ̽̽ OLs:ÌýGet ready with your Orientation Leaders and other incoming Catamounts on ZeeMee for an engaging live event to learn more about what to expect at New Student Orientation. This live event is for incoming new students only.
