Student leadership positions are open to current undergrad and graduate students who are in good university standing. Please read the position descriptions to find out more!

Positions

Student Leadership Co-coordinator
Body

Student Leadership co-coordinator will supervise and maintain relationships with SESP work sites and supervisors in addition to supporting the students in their work environment. Job responsibilities include:

  • Organize depts. across campus who will host a SESP student and provide necessary information prior to the student’s arrival
  • Communicate regularly with work-site supervisors to assure that both supervisors and program participants are getting what they need out of their partnership
  • Arrange 1 one-on-one meeting or communication per week with supervisors during the program to discuss their worksite experience
  • Assist the Program Director with all SESP participant paperwork pertaining to Payroll and Human Resources
  • Work with the MCSC Coordinator for Student Programs and Leadership Development to administer a First-Year Experience Symposium for participants during SESP
  • Assist the Co-Coordinator for Student Engagement
  • Keep the Program Director informed of issues/concerns in the work environment
  • Complete other tasks as assigned
Student Engagement Co-Coordinator
Body

Student Engagement co-coordinator will develop the “Service With a Purpose” (SWAP) program and Community Connections Series within SESP, in addition to creating the residential programming requirements that will be implemented by the Peer Advisors. Job responsibilities include:

  • Communicate regularly with community service-site supervisors to assure that both supervisors and program participants are getting what they need out of their partnership
  • Develop the site locations and arrange logistics, such as travel and meals
  • Develop and coordinate the weekly Community Connections Series for campus partner workshops for participants
  • Work with PAs to implement student educational and community- building programs
  • Work with the MCSC Coordinator for Student Programs and Leadership Development to administer a First-Year Experience Symposium for participants during SESP
  • Assist the Co-Coordinator for Student Leadership
  • Keep Program Director informed of issues/concerns in the service sites
  • Complete other tasks as assigned
Peer Advisors
Body

Peer Advisors aid students in their transition into University Life. The position involves a great amount of freedom and responsibility for students who are independent and excited to take on various tasks. Job responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the health, safety, and holistic development of SESP participants
  • Participate in all training activities
  • Participate in weekly community meetings
  • Support programming for a cohort of 5-8 first-year students
  • Must be on duty approximately 2-3 nights a week. “On-duty” constitutes carrying a duty phone 24 hours, and responding to situations/crises that may occur. Additionally, Peer Advisors must perform three “community walks” throughout the evening, enforcing SESP policy
  • Attend and participate in all in-service training programs, staff meetings, and activities that occur throughout the summer
  • Complete other tasks as assigned and be willing to be flexible

Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior.
