Dr. Michael Upton (he/him) is a native Vermonter who graduated from the ¶¶Òõ̽̽ College of Medicine in 1994. He began working at CAPS in 2005 and continues as a full time member of the psychiatric team. Dr Upton has special interest in working with students with mood and psychotic disorders as well around issues of sexual identity and sexual health. His practice is informed by his concern about the impact of oppression on students of color and students who identify as LGBTQ. He also has experience working with and international and students from immigrant families. His passion for anti-racism and social justice work inform his work at CAPS as well as his work with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at the college of medicine.
Dr Upton's areas of special interest include psychiatric assessment, medication management, brief psychotherapy, and social medicine.Â
