BIO

I'm essentially the Fleming's hype woman. There's always a lot going on—with several new exhibitions each year, ¶¶Òõ̽̽ classes learning in the galleries, ongoing research on works within the collections—and my job to let everyone know how they can experience all that the museum offers. Practically speaking, that includes everything from writing articles and email updates to growing our online presence to designing cute stickers for visitors to grab on their way out.

I also help plan and support our exhibits and events, manage our annual fundraising campaigns, and collaborate with my colleagues in the School of the Arts, College of Arts and Sciences, and Strategic Communications on ¶¶Òõ̽̽-wide initiatives.

Before joining the Fleming, I worked in content and creative communications for about ten years with both independent clients and in higher education at LMU's School of Film and Television, Otis College of Art and Design, and UCLA.

Rachel's Staff Pick

Rachel's Staff Pick

An inky blue and black portrait of dancer Isadora Duncan, 1909.

This inky portrait is among the latest works from our permanent collections to be rotated into the galleries this fall. As soon as I saw it on the wall, I loved it. I love the movement of it, the joy—I love that the dancer is barefoot! Only after I chose it did I discover it's a portrait of the pioneering American dancer and choreographer Isadora Duncan, or the "Mother of Modern Dance." Now, when I look at it, I imagine the revolutionary performer dancing with the kind of ecstatic freedom that inspired so many, including Walkowitz.

Abraham Walkowitz (United States 1880 - 1965) Isadora Duncan, 1909. Ink and ink wash on paper. Museum Purchase 1962.35
