Good afternoon ¶¶Òõ̽̽ community,

As recovery efforts from the 2024 floods continue throughout the state, the University is passing along information about how to volunteer and assist local communities with cleanup efforts. The 2024 floods have been devastating to many communities and our neighbors.

While the State Emergency Operations Center discourages those trying to help from simply showing up in communities without coordination, there is significant need and many opportunities to help. If you are interested in volunteering broadly as an individual, please visit

For more specific connection to volunteer efforts, the most effective way to find volunteer opportunities is to check local municipal website and social media feeds in areas know to be impacted significantly. Some examples include mutual aid groups like:

Barre Up - organizing volunteer efforts in Barre.

CReW in Waterbury -

Volunteers in Waterbury are especially needed during the week

The United Way of Lamoille County - organizing volunteers.

In the Northeast Kingdom, the Kingdom United Resilience and Recovery Effort (KURRVE) has information about local mutual aid groups and a spreadsheet for needs and offers of help.

These are just a few examples. Be sure to check impacted communities near you for other opportunities.

At this time we are simply reminding the ¶¶Òõ̽̽ community of the opportunities to assist neighbors as we do not have any direct request for coordination with the State Emergency Operations Center as we did last year.

Thanks in advance for all you do to support your community and your neighbors in need.
