Safety Week 2024!Ìý

The 2nd annual Campus Safety Week is a week of information sharing, training sessions, and fun activities sponsored by the Division of Safety and Compliance.Ìý Scroll down to explore the events planned for Safety Week 2024!

All Week

Prize: The winning team will receive a $100 Target Gift Card for each member of the team.

Here are the guidelines for successful submission.

  1. Team's can consist of 2 - 4 ¶¶Òõ̽̽ students.
  2. Only one (1) submission should be entered for each team.
  3. One (1) team will be selected at random from all the completed entries - an entry is only complete if all questions are answered.
  4. Be safe and respectful when taking pictures of locations on campus or selfies with campus staff.
  5. It is recommended you review all questions in advance, plan your strategy, collect your answers, and then submit your final response when you have all your answers and images.
  6. Many questions can be answered by searching ¶¶Òõ̽̽’s website or reaching out to offices on campus, however there are several items that can only be completed by attending events during Campus Safety Week – September 16 – 20th.
  7. All Entries must be submitted by 5 pm Monday September 23th.

    • The goal of the Healthy Campuses & Workplaces Symposium is to develop a comprehensive approach to violence prevention in Vermont by leveraging the collective knowledge, expertise, and resources of the state's academic community, local organizations, and state agencies.Ìý The Healthy Campuses & Workplaces Symposium is designed to promote communication and networking among participants and encourage the exchange of best practices.

  • CAT ECare -ÌýDavis Center AtriumÌý-Ìý9 am - 1 pm
    • Catamount Emergency Care or CAT ECare is a new health and safety project that is being rolled out on the ¶¶Òõ̽̽ campus. The CAT ECare program consists of lifesaving equipment at stations distributed around campus. CAT ECare emergency stations will include Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), bleeding control kits, and Narcan®.Ìý Stop by to learn more about this new project and how to get involved.
  • Outdoor Safety - Davis Center Atrium - 10 am - 1 pm
    • Are you excited about outdoor exploration in Vermont, and want to take steps to improve safety?Ìý Join Doug Connelly from Risk Management to review outdoor risks such as lightning, water hazards, unexpected medical concerns, and pro tips to preventing emergencies in the outdoors.
  • Fire Extinguisher Challenge -ÌýAndrew Harris Commons (Outside Davis Student Center) - 9 am - 11:30 am
    • Learn how to use a Fire Extinguisher and test how fast you can put out a fire - prizes for best times.
  • Club Sport Safety Officer Training -ÌýJeffords Hall (Room 110) - 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
    • Each of our 65 club sports has a dedicated individual in the role of Club Safety Officer.Ìý Join this training to discuss the varied responsibilities that go with this position – first aid, emergency response, hazard recognition, and incident reporting will be on the agenda!
  • Active Threat Response TrainingÌý(Open to all students, faculty, and staff)Ìý- Lafayette L108 - 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
    • Active Threat Response is an hour long course which uses national data from past active threat incidents to inform a Run, Hide, Fight curriculum. Five different sessions of this course are being offered through the week of 9/16-9/20 at various locations across campus. Snacks provided and chances to score some free gadgets and swag.
  • Better Biking WorkshopÌý- Innovation Hall Room E105 - 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
    • ​Join Local Motion, ¶¶Òõ̽̽ TPS, ¶¶Òõ̽̽ OOS, for a Better Biking Workshop to learn some tips on how to stay safe while riding your bike on the street and in the neighborhood, how to avoid getting your bike stolen, and answers to your questions about the rules of the road. All ¶¶Òõ̽̽ students and employees are welcome! For showing up (and sticking around), you’ll get a FREE U-lock for your bike, FREE reflective band, and FREE pizza! (for in-person option). Spots are limited and registration is required.

    • ​Come meet Equal Opportunity support staff, ¶¶Òõ̽̽'s Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Coordinator and Police Services to up your skills around Bystander Intervention, reporting and learn more about support resources for interpersonal violence.
