BIO

Dr. Beth Hellwig is interim Dean of Students at ¶¶Òõ̽̽. Her experience in higher education is far reaching and includes 10 years as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, service as Dean of Student Services at Gonzaga University, Director of Student Life at the University of Northern Colorado, Assistant Director of Residence Life and Apartment Life at Colorado State University, Director of Student Activities at Montana State University, Educational Programming Coordinator at New Mexico State University, and as Vice President for Student Affairs at San Francisco State, the University of North Dakota, and California State University Maritime Academy. 

She is passionate about international education and Semester at Sea in particular, where she served as the Director of Student Life, Dean of Students, and Executive Dean during her tenure. Dr. Hellwig has also been very involved with hosting international students from all around the world and has a love for helping them to have a positive American experience while studying in the United States. 

Dr. Hellwig was the first recipient of the Zenobia Hikes Memorial National Award through NASPA for her mentorship of women in 2011. She was also selected as the NASPA Region IV East recipient of the Outstanding Performance as a Senior Student Affairs Officer in 2012. She received the Office of Multicultural Affairs Distinguished Service Award in the fall of 2013.  

She has a Ph.D. from the University of Northern Colorado in College Student Personnel Administration, M.Ed. from Colorado State University in Student Affairs and Higher Education, and a B.A. in Pre-Law and Political Science from New Mexico State University. Dr. Hellwig also works for The Registry, an organization that places Interim Executives in Higher Education.
