BIO
Cellist Jiwon Lee is currently maintaining an active schedule as a soloist, chamber musician, and teacher.
Lee earned her Bachelor of Music degree at Ewha Women’s University in Seoul, Korea, and is the winner of various competitions, including the Korea Herald Competition and Seoul Arts Competition. She was the principal cellist for Gyeonggi Arts High School, Ewha Symphony Orchestra, and University of Massachusetts Amherst Symphony Orchestra.
She came to the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a double duty Teaching Assistant, earning a Master of Music in cello performance in the studio of Edward Arron. Her other teachers include Il-Hwan Bai and Tae-Woo Kim.
Cellist Jiwon Lee has performed in master classes for renowned cellists such as Matt Haimovitz, Marcy Rosan, and Mihai Tetel. She has participated in numerous music festivals and concerts in both Korea and North America, such as Music in PyeongChang, Eumyeon International Music Festival, and Bowdoin International Music Festival. She joined ¶¶Òõ̽̽ faculty in 2022.
