Professor Emeritus Thomas L. Read’s Variations on St. Elizabeth will be performed in a concert of new organ music presented by Brian Schober in New York City on February 23. Dan Krymkowski, ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Professor of Sociology, gave the premiere of this work in 2018.
Other upcoming performances of Read’s music include Traveler’s Frolic for viola and guitar in Boston on March 19 and 22 and in New York City on March 21; and Trio Concertante during the music department’s Festival of New Music, March 28-29. Read’s Concerto for Oboe and Strings, premiered last year by the Burlington Chamber Orchestra, will be heard in Tokyo, Japan, on June 4th. Oboist Katie Oprea will be soloist and Professor Kono (¶¶Òõ̽̽ Orchestra director) will conduct.
