Burlington's annual Discover Jazz Festival brings local talent and world-famous headliners to the city's numerous performing venues. This year's headliners include legends Patti LaBelle and Bobby McFerrin, with additional performances by several ¶¶Òõ̽̽ faculty and alums.
One such group is Birdcode, the jazz combo of Artist/Teacher Tom Cleary and Affiliate Artist Amber deLaurentis. Cleary teaches jazz piano lessons and directs the Chromaticats student jazz combo; and deLaurentis teaches jazz vocal lessons and directs the Jazz Vocal Ensemble. Alumnus Justin Dunn '16 plays bass.
on the festival includes a conversation with Cleary and deLaurentis about their creative process and their new album, You Are Here. The group's formal album release show will be one of their Discover Jazz Festival performances.
