What’s it
all about:
The
Tri-state Greenhouse IPM Program is a collaboration among growers and
specialists from ME, NH and VT. We will be holding a virtual workshop
once again for everyone’s safety with hopes to return to in-person in
2023. This year’s virtual workshop program will be a two-part online
(Zoom) session with a primary focus on IPM below the soil surface. We
are very excited to have two fantastic guest speakers lined up for this
event!
Raymond A.
Cloyd,
a Professor and the Extension Specialist in Horticultural
Entomology/Plant Protection, at Kansas State University will lead
Session 1. He will discuss belowground biological control agents and
then cover new insecticides and miticides for greenhouse production
systems.
Rose
Buitenhuis,
a
Research Scientist in Biological Control at Vineland Research and
Innovation Centre, Ontario Canada will lead Session 2. She will
discuss how to check the quality of your biocontrol agents and then demo
how to use biological ‘dips’ to get rid of pests on cuttings
There are
some new faces this year on our team from ¶¶Òõ̽̽, UNH, UMaine and the Maine
Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry will cover research
and issues to look out for in the tri-state region. These workshops are
for growers with greenhouses or high tunnels, extension specialists and
professional pest managers. Growers of all experience levels and from
any state are welcome to attend. Preregistration is required and will be
available in early December. Spots will be limited! We are
expecting up to 4 pesticide applicator recertification credits.
Anyone from any state is welcome to attend, but states accepting
reciprocal credits for VT sponsored courses are ME, NH, MA, CT and RI.
Must be in
attendance and actively participate to receive credits. $50.00
gets you signed up for BOTH sessions. Please contact Cheryl
Frank Sullivan at
cfrank@uvm.edu for questions.
Stay Tuned!
