This program was established as an interest-free and forgivable loan program in 2018 by the Vermont General Assembly. Loan forgiveness means that you no longer have to pay part, or all, of the loan. The goal is to recruit and retain high-quality VTNG members. Service Members must work with the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) and their ESO to determine eligibility and additional requirements.ÌýApplicants are reviewed by VSAC. Selection is based on eligibility and available funds.
Transfer Credit
Service members eligible for TA must contact their Dean's Office before enrolling to learn how their transfer credit will apply to their individual degree program. Please contact ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Student Veteran Services with any questions by emailing veterans@uvm.edu. Please contact the Office of Transfer Affairs with transfer credit specific questions on any transcripts which have been submitted to ¶¶Òõ̽̽ at transfer@uvm.edu.

Readmissions Policy
¶¶Òõ̽̽ will promptly readmit with the same academic status a Service member who was previously admitted to the institution but who did not attend, or did not continue to attend, because of service in the uniformed service. Contact veterans@uvm.edu with a copy of your orders or other information.Ìý
Tuition Billing for Members of the Armed Forces, Veterans, and Families
The federal government and Vermont state legislature have established qualification for assessment of a lower rate of tuition, consistent with the rate established by the Vermont Legislature for in-state residents and detailed in the University’s Residency Policy, for certain students who are members of the Vermont National Guard, or Armed Forces or Veterans thereof, as well as certain family members of those students. Irrespective of a student’s out-of-state status as defined in the Residency Policy, upon submission of appropriate documentation, ¶¶Òõ̽̽ will charge members of the Vermont National Guard, armed forces, veterans, and qualifying family members the in-state tuition rate in accordance with applicable law.
