<p>Milestones are many for Jody Williams ’72 these days. It’s twenty years since the founding of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. Fifteen years since the Mine Ban Treaty was signed by 122 nations. And fifteen years since the Oct. 10, 1997 morning when her phone rang with the news that she and the ICBL had been selected for the Nobel Peace Prize, a call that would bring international media up an unlikely mile-long dirt road in Putney, Vt., and change Williams’ life immeasurably.</p>

<p>¶¶Òõ̽̽’s Pre-Medical Enhancement Program, founded in 2004, accepts 10 students per year and matches academically gifted ¶¶Òõ̽̽ sophomore undergrads with medical student mentors and physician mentors.</p>

<p>Bisharo Kasim, a medical interpreter who speaks several languages and who is originally from Somalia, shared her story and talked about medical interpretation with first-year medical students at ¶¶Òõ̽̽ in their Professionalism, Communication and Reflection course.</p>
