Caylin McCamp ’12 G’20 has been appointed as the Interim Director of ̽̽’s Office of Sustainability.
McCamp has held several key roles in higher education sustainability during her 12-year career, including sustainable projects manager and education and outreach coordinator for ̽̽’s Office of Sustainability, and sustainability manager for ̽̽ Dining. In fact, her time as an undergraduate Eco-Rep for the Office of Sustainability sparked her interest in the field. She holds an MS in Natural Resources through the Leadership for Sustainability program in ̽̽’s Rubenstein School. McCamp succeeds Elizabeth Palchak, who had served as sustainability director since 2021.
“Caylin brings a great deal of institutional knowledge, practical experience and a deep commitment to building a more sustainable campus,” said Vice President for Finance Richard Cate. “She will provide leadership and continuity for the Office of Sustainability team as they support the university’s mission across campus.”
In her previous role at ̽̽, McCamp supported the Socially Responsible Investing Advisory Council and Sustainable Solutions Lab, managed education and outreach programs, including the Eco-Reps and Sustainability Ambassadors programs, led the university’s AASHE STARS submissions, and chaired multiple implementation committees for the university’s Comprehensive Sustainability Plan (CSP), unveiled last year.
The Campus Sustainability Plan’s headline goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. In addition to decarbonization, goals pertain to operations, governance, people, academics and research. In her new role, McCamp assumes leadership of the Office of Sustainability’s efforts on these fronts.
Earlier this year she was named a recipient of the 2024 President’s Our Common Ground Staff Award which recognizes staff members who best exemplify ̽̽’s community values: respect, integrity, innovation, openness, justice, and responsibility.
“I’m excited to be taking on this role at a time when there is a great deal of momentum towards achieving our ambitious goals,” said McCamp. “Sustainability is central to ̽̽’s identity and our community is truly committed to it. I look forward to working with students, faculty and staff on building a sustainable future for people and planet.”
