̽̽Click- IACUC Transition Update
Wow, we have nearly completed the transition from InfoEd to ̽̽Click! Thank you all so much for your efforts to help make this transition happen by our end-of-year deadline. We have a handful of protocols that have been entered into the system, but have not been submitted. You must “click” the submit button to “push” the protocol to our office for review. If your transition protocol is in either the Pre-Submission or Clarifications/Modifications Requested states and you have not coordinated with either Abbey or Aubrie regarding a plan for submitting, you must do so now. InfoEd will no longer be available to us after December 31st. Failure to coordinate with us about this may result in loss of protocol approval.
General Reminders
CITI Training Reminder
If you are PI or key personnel listed on an IACUC protocol, we wish to remind you that triennial training reminders come directly from CITI. We are finding that investigators are allowing their required training to lapse. Unfortunately, IACUC staff do not receive real-time notices of expiration of CITI training. We do, however, cross-check that the requirement is up to date upon the submission of a protocol or amendment. Investigators’ training should not expire as CITI sends reminders via email beginning 90 days prior to expiration. An example of a CITI email reminder is below.
Please watch for these notices and do not disregard them as the IACUC cannot release approval of a submission until the training requirements have been met. If the PI’s training has expired on active protocols, a notice of the expiration and request to cease protocol activities will be sent to the PI with a copy to the department chair.
If you are unsure when your training expires, you can check the “Training” tab of the ̽̽Click protocol record. It is recommended that a designated person in your laboratory periodically checks to ensure PI and key personnel requirements are up to date.

FAQs/Tips
1. I need to increase my approved number of animals – how do I do that?
The request for an increase in animal numbers takes place on the individual experiment on which you are requesting the additional animals.
A few researchers have stumbled upon what seems to be a perfectly valid alternative way to change their numbers. Unfortunately, it is not the correct way. The numbers from each experiment are reflected on the Animal Justification page in a table (example below). This table allows editing in the Adjusted Animal Count column. This seems appropriate; however, the system does not alert the IACUC when these numbers have been altered. As you can imagine, this is a problem with ensuring that we always have accurate records. Therefore, when increasing your animal numbers, please do not update this column unless you have been directed to do so by the IACUC.
2. I need to add a new procedure that is standardly used, what should I do?
During the development period of ̽̽Click, the IACUC created an initial set of the most common Standard Substances and Procedures. The IACUC continues to add to this library so please check back each time you create an amendment or protocol to see if what you need is already available. Using standard substances and procedures from the library provides consistency, saves you time while creating your submission and reduces the time it takes the IACUC to review a submission.
There are two ways to look for standard substances.
1) You can go directly to the standard library and browse through the list of procedures or substances,
2) You can click on the “procedures” or “substances” tabs within your Team and find a list of both Standard and Team procedures. *Hint: click “scope” to filter for Team or Standard procedures and substances.
3. How do I edit a procedure that is on an approved protocol?
The process for updating a procedure on a protocol is to;
1) Create a copy of the existing procedure that requires the edit. If this is a substance administration procedure, you will also need to copy or create a new substance if the substance needs to be edited.
(if applicable)
2) Archive the original version of the procedure and substance as applicable (which removes the procedure and, if applicable, substance from your Team library)
3) Edit the copy with all of the updates you wish to make
4) Add the updated copy to all applicable experiments on the Experiments page
5) Remove the archived copy from all applicable experiments
4. I’m getting this error message, what do I do?
This error message shows up when an attempt to submit a protocol or amendment is made and the protocol has an archived procedure associated with an experiment. You may have an archived procedure if you have previously revised a procedure on an experiment.
If the archived copy is not removed from an experiment, the above error will appear when you try to submit.
5. My protocol is in the Vet Clarifications Requested status, but I have a question regarding one of her comments. What do I do?
Any questions you have about her review/comments can be directed back to her by clicking the Submit Response button and typing your question into the comment box found in the popup window. The veterinarian will then be able to respond to your comment through the Click system.
