The Research Protections Office staff continue to be healthy. All analysts remain at home working remotely through email, Teams, and the ̽̽Click system. We continue to receive, review and approve protocol submissions. Please keep in mind that while you may receive IRB approval, the institutional policy continues to govern current activities with research subjects at this time. Institutional policy is here.
New - Research Protections Office COVID-19 Page
The Research Protections Office has developed a single page where you can find up-to-date information regarding Covid related Committee information. You will find FAQs for each Committee, policies and links to additional COVID-19 resources. Of note, there are are few FAQs that we wanted to bring to your attention.
ClinicalTrials.Gov Expectations
Researchers have 30 days from a pause in research to update the study information on . Given that the institution-wide policy when into effect in March, please update the study’s Overall Recruitment Status of the change in status as soon as possible if you have not already done so. One of the two options below is applicable to this situation:
- Active, not recruiting: Study is continuing, meaning participants are receiving an intervention or being examined, but new participants are not currently being recruited or enrolled; OR
- Suspended: Study halted prematurely but potentially will resume – if you choose this option enter “Accrual on hold due to temporary pandemic research policy”
Remote Visits
The University released guidance about appropriate videoconferencing software. This is noted in the FAQs and on the University Compliance page. Please reference this information prior to submission of modifications to utilize remote visits by videoconference.
Resumption of Research
The University policy remains in effect until further notice. There are no face-to-face visits unless there is direct benefit to the patient and visits have been approved as outlined in the FAQs and policy.
A “Resuming Research Ad-Hoc Committee” was convened to develop guidance and principles for all aspects of resumption of research across the University. Plans for resumption of human subject face-to-face visits will be communicated as developed.
