Seminar Details:

The Cajita Project is designed to help BilDS trainees become a reflective, socially conscious member of the scientific community and involves constructing a cajita (creative knowledge canvas). A cajita is a personal reflective box you design and create using your own creativity and life experiences. Each cajita is unique to each individual. Thus, no two cajitas are alike. The cajita represents a cultural autobiographical story/student journey told in carefully selected artifacts such as but not limited to family photos, letters, personal belongings, newspaper articles, etc. BilDS Trainees will construct a cajita that will include artifacts that represent who they are as a person and what they bring to their discipline and the scientific community, individuals (in and out of college) who have influenced and validated them, the kind of scholar-scientist they hope to be, and how they hope to make a difference in your field of expertise. Feel free to include other artifacts that make a statement about you as a person and as a scientist. The cajitas will be presented in class on a volunteer basis.

Snacks will be provided.
