Student persistence is one measure of student success in higher education. Student persistence refers to the retention of students from their first year to their second and so on until a timely graduation within four years.

Retention rates measure the year-to-year persistence of students who enter as first-time students in the fall. Graduation rates measure the share of students who arrive as first-time students in the fall and complete their degree within four, five, or six years.

The charts below provide detailed breakdowns of these rates for each undergraduate cohort starting in Fall 1995 and on.
