These are located in Burlington, Rutland and Underhill. Samplers at the sites are operated on a 1-in-12 day (Burlington, Rutland) or 1-in-6 day sample schedule (Underhill). The Underhill site is part of the EPA National Air Toxics Trend Station (NATTS) network. The Burlington and Rutland air toxics monitoring sites are part of the VT AQCD air toxics network. The air toxic sample collection and analysis program includes volatile organic compounds (VOC) and carbonyl compounds at all sites. The NATTS - Underhill site includes sampling and analysis for PM10 metals and polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) compounds.Ambient Air Monitoring of Toxic PollutantsLeonBennetLacaillade RobertBerschlingJennyair qualityair pollutionairHazardous Air Pollutants1993-01-01Three state air monitoring sites collect ambient air samples for 96 hazardous air pollutants. These substances represent potential health risks associated with specific air toxic pollutants or hazardous air pollutants (HAP) in the ambient air.Monitor potential health risks associated with specific air toxic pollutants or hazardous air pollutants (HAP) in the ambient air. The monitoring objective for the VOC and Carbonyl sample collection and analysis is to assess long-term population exposure on a neighborhood scale, compared to applicable state standards and trend assessment. The monitoring objectives for the VOC, Carbonyl , PAH, and metals sample collection and analysis are to assess background levels on a regional scale for short and long-term trends, compared to applicable state standards and federal guidelines and assessment of contribution of transported pollutants.
