The Adirondack Park contains over 300 trailheads, each usually has a parking area for visitors and a trail register for each party to record their location of origin. As visitors may travel from areas outside the Park, there is a risk that visitors could unwillingly transport invasive plants on boot treads, dog fur, or clothing that could become established in the Park. While this work only includes visitor data from 2012, it provides valuable information on the possible travel routes, hotspots, and vulnerabilities in invasive plant management in the park. Additionally, summary information on visitor use and travel distances can help with resource allocation and planning.Assessing the risk of invasive plant introductions at trailheads in the Adirondack Park, NYKosibaAlexandraDuncanJamesTaitEmmaBeierColinPerryJustinSirchMatthiasrecreationtrail registerstravel analysistransfer potentialnon-nativehikersAdirondack Park trail register data for 20122019-08-012020-01-31These data are a subset of data housed in the Adirondack Trail Registry Database (ADK-TReD), which includes data from 210 trail register books from 2012 located at trailheads in the Adirondack Park. Fields include group size, length of stay, and user days (defined as group size multiplied by the length of stay), as well as visitor origin information (location of residence). Only entries with valid origin data and those orginating from the states of Connecticut (CT), Massachusetts (MA), Maine (ME), New Hampshire (NH), New Jersey (NJ), New York (NY), Pennsylvania (PA), Rhode Island (RI), and Vermont (VT) are included in this dataset. To examine hiker origin data for trail register books in the Adirondack Park, NY,Z1627_3227_1033K5VMC.1627.3227mySQLTait E, Kosiba AM, Larkin A, Rockefeller D, and Beier C.
