  • Vermont Master Composter course
    6:00pm - 7:30pm

    Registration is now open through August 23 for ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Extension's Vermont Master Composter course, designed to teach the basics of backyard composting.
    Topics to be covered include compost ecology, benefits of composting, site design & management, compost systems & tools, using compost, community composting, volunteerism, and Vermont recycling policies.
    The online course runs for eight weeks starting August 30; course materials will be available to participants until Nov 15. Two tracks are offered to meet participant needs: An at-your-pace track that allows participants to move through the course at their own leisure, and a volunteer certification track where participants are trained to become certified Vermont Master Composter volunteers and attend an in-person workshop and live discussion sessions with instructors offered via Zoom on Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m., beginning September 5.

    Join independent dairy nutritionist Kurt Cotanch and agronomists Heather Darby, Sara Ziegler, and Sarah Flack for a workshop and discussion on grass-fed dairy nutrition. Topics will include how to make and use a forage inventory, and how to take, read, and use forage tests to make best use of forages you have to optimize milk production and quality.
