BIO

I joined the ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Extension's Center for Sustainable Agriculture in 2012. My BS is in Agronomy at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil, and I have a MS in Plant and Soil Sciences and a PhD in Natural Resources at ¶¶Òõ̽̽.

My work addresses environmental, social and productive aspects of grazing farms, with emphasis on pasture management, ecosystems conservation and sustainable livelihoods, a natural fit as I come from a two-generation pasture-based family farm in Uruguay.

I have experienced interdisciplinary research in grazing management, agroecology, ecosystems goods and services, conservation policy, green markets, and ecological economics.

In my opinion, pasture lands play a key role because they are complex ecosystems that sustain a vast array of functions and processes delivering benefits for supporting healthy environments and communities.
