Grade K-12 teachers and other science educators in Vermont interested in exploring ways to connect their students with science and nature are invited to sign up for a free Project WILD workshop and training on February 25.

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Department of Fish and Wildlife is sponsoring the workshop with support from University of Vermont (¶¶Òõ̽̽) Extension 4-H. It is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. at the ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Extension office in Morrisville (29 Sunset Dr., Ste. 2) and will involve both indoor and outdoor hands-on curriculum activities, so participants are advised to dress appropriately.

In addition to school teachers, 4-H leaders, homeschooling parents, librarians, camp counselors and others who offer environmental education programs for Vermont youths are eligible to attend. To register, contact Holly Ferris, ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Extension 4-H educator for Lamoille and Caledonia Counties, at (802) 656-7562 or holly.ferris@uvm.edu.

The registration deadline is February 14 although anyone requiring language interpretation, translation assistance and/or a disability-related accommodation to participate is asked to contact her by February 4.

Project WILD focuses on the inherent value of terrestrial and aquatic wildlife and helps educators effectively teach students through engaging, interactive activities. This national environmental education program is designed to help students learn about their local wildlife and the environment through awareness, knowledge, skills, responsible behavior, informed decision-making and constructive actions.

All participants in the February 25 training session will receive a free comprehensive curriculum guide to use in their classrooms. To learn more about Project WILD, go to .
