Joshua Faulkner

Extension Research Associate Professor

Alma mater(s)
  • Ph.D. Biological and Environmental Engineering, Cornell University, 2009.
  • M.S. Biological and Environmental Engineering, Cornell University, 2005.
  • B.S. Biological Systems Engineering, Virginia Tech, 2003

BIO

I coordinate  the Farming and Climate Change Program in the ¶¶Òõ̽̽ Extension Center for Sustainable Agriculture.  I do applied research and outreach on soil, water, and nutrient related issues across the state and provide technical assistance to farmers on practices and innovative solutions to improve the management of these resources.  My work spans the farmstead to the watershed in scale.

Courses

PSS 212: Advanced Agroecology (Co-Instructor)

PSS 269: Soil and Water Pollution and Bioremediation

PSS 381: Hydrology Principles and Practice

PSS 381: Agricultural Runoff Treatment & Ecological Design

Awards and Achievements

Outstanding Recent Alumnus, Biological Systems Engineering Department, Virginia Tech, 2011

Area(s) of expertise

Agriculture and Natural Resources, Water management in agriculture, Hydrology, Climate change,  Nutrient fate and transport, Alternative treatment for agricultural wastewaters.
